Hello everyone! What a wonderful way to get acquainted... through family trees!
My father was born in Bern, Switzerland and was the youngest of four children. His father Ernst died in the 1918 influenza epidemic when my father was only 2 months old. He was raised by his mother, an aunt and three older sisters. They lived near Zurich. He native language was German but he was also fluent in French, Italian and Romansch. After serving his mandatory military duty, he completed an 8-year apprenticeship as a European chef. He died in Marion County, Oregon.
Thank you for including my mother's obituary. She actually wrote it three years before she died! As you can read, she was extremely proud of her Trullinger heritage. She shared wonder stories of visiting her grandfather Isaac at his planing mill and described the belt-drive and pulley system that ran all the saws and equipment. She would have been so tickled to know about all your work on the family history.
Keep up the great research everyone!
Thank you again.
Cuz'n Tim
