Notes - Charles was a piano tuner. He was always interested in music and played the violin. He was a member of the Teutonia Mannechoir which is a German singing club on the north side. He suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and was bedridden the last 28 years of his life. According to uncle Gordon Alexander Skelly, he was always cheerful in spite of his affliction. In their early pictures it is hard to tell the difference between him and my father. I don't remember him except being in a bed. While his wife was dying at our house from cancer, Chick was living at 30 Hemphill Street and was supposed to be caring for the old man. He died under some mysterious circumstances. My father said his brother Chick left him on the commode and he fell and hit his head. This was part of the bad blood between Chick and my dad.
