BRIDGEPORT - Leroy F. Perry, son of the late Ellam Perry and Floyd I. Perry, was born in Mars, Pennsylvania, on November 7, 1922. Leroy passed away July 24, 2014, at his residence at Maplewood Retirement Home in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
On August 14, 1949, he married the former Nancy Drollinger, who preceded him in death on February 24, 2005. He is survived by a daughter, April Hinkle, Bridgeport, West Virginia; two grandsons, Brandon Hinkle and his wife Deanna of Bridgeport, West Virginia, and William "JR" Hinkle and his wife Nathalie of Spring Lake, (Ft. Bragg) North Carolina; one grandson, Noah Hinkle, also of Spring Lake. He is also survived by his long-time caregivers, Brenda Roach, Margie Wratchford and Dot Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandchildren, Aavianna and Jeremiah Hinkle.
Mr. Perry attended Westminster College. In 1944, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving as the co-pilot of a B-17 Bomber during World War II. Between October 1944 and February 1945, Leroy flew 33 bombing missions over Germany. On February 20, 1945, he was wounded in a bombing mission, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart.
After leaving the military, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Law School. He was employed as an attorney for New York Natural Gas in Pittsburgh. In 1965, New York Natural Gas merged with Clarksburg-based Hope Gas to form Consolidated Gas Supply Corp. He remained a member of the Legal Department of Consolidated Gas Supply Corp. until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Perry was active in Bridgeport city government as a member of the Bridgeport Planning Commission and later the Bridgeport City Council. He was a member of the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church and the Bridgeport Country Club.

Notes - From what my father had said, "Bud" was a pilot in WWII and had been shot down. He had suffered burns to his hands but recovered. He was a lawyer and was the one who discovered the court cases involving Gustav F. Drollinger in the Butler Courthouse.
