- Lincoln resident Jerry D. Lodwig, 84, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at The Monarch. Memorial service is at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church 8701 Adams, Lincoln, NE with Pastor Brad Beckman officiating. In honoring his wishes for cremation there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials can be given to Cedars Home for Children, Toys for Tots or Faith Lutheran Church. Jerry was born June 14, 1929 in Norfolk, NE the son of John and Eunice (Druliner) Lodwig. When he was quite young, Jerry and his family moved to Havelock, NE. Jerry was very involved in his youth group at the Havelock United Methodist Church. Many of the friendships he made during his youth remained lifelong friends. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School and then attended Wesleyan University for a short time before joining the Marines. After his tour of duty, he returned to Lincoln and attended UNL. He then worked as a Carrier Supervisor for the Lincoln Journal Star where he met and married his wife, Marie (Marxhausen) November 19, 1955. They had two children, Philip and Peter. Jerry retired after over 35 years of service as the Ticket Manager for United Airlines at the Lincoln Airport. Jerry was a wealth of knowledge and always amazed his children and grandchildren with what he knew. He enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and interests. Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie; son, Philip of Lincoln; Grandchildren, Jesse Hoover of Lincoln and Shayna Goering-Lodwig of Lincoln, Great Grandson, Phoenix Hoover of Lincoln; 3 sisters, Beverly Beymer and Marilyn Votava of Lincoln and Karilyn Luchsinger of Fallbrook, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Pete; his mother Eunice and his grandparents.
