- Jeane Menard, 91, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Grand Island Veterans Home, with her family by her side.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home, with a gathering of friends from 1 until service time. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Grand Island City Cemetery.
Those left to cherish her memory are a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dick Collins of Grand Island; two brothers, Raymond and Joyce Shriner of Grand Island, Robert and Luella Shriner of Alda; two sisters-in-law, Mary Shriner and Rosie Shriner; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents; sister, Shirley Ewoldt; and four brothers, Gerald, Danny, Glenn and Ralph Shriner.
Mrs. Menard was born Nov. 23, 1923, to Pearl and Emma (Hahlweg) Shriner in Alda, where she grew up.
In 1944 she decided to travel until she made her home in New Haven, Conn. Jeane was united in marriage to Larry "Pat" Menard in 1959. Following their marriage, they lived in Nebraska for a few years until they moved back to New Haven, where Jeane was employed by Newton New Haven Dye Cast and Dolman Electronics. She returned to Nebraska after her husband's passing in 2005.
Jeane was a member of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and bingo. Jeane was an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending the weekend at their cabin on the lake, and feeding and caring for the wildlife. Most of all, she loved her dogs, Menew, GiGi and Bucky; they will take the journey home together.
