She is survived by daughters Cindy Harsha and Vickey Simonson, both of the Oklahoma City area, and son Bill Simonson from Iowa. Shirley's son Steven Simonson was killed in an accident in 1975. Shirley took great joy in her 9 grandchildren, Lindsay, Tory, Megan, Hilary, Chris, Dane, Steven, Jarod and Anthony. She is also survived by her mother Lucille Hill, sister Judy Johnson, both from Iowa and brother Russell Phelps from Florida. Shirley's oldest brother Bob Phelps preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held Friday morning, November 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, 7501 E. Reno in MWC.

Notes - Funeral service for Mabel Lucille Hill will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Kim Peterson will officiate.
Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
Visitation is today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
Mabel Lucille Hill, daughter of William and Mabel (Johnson) Salisbury, was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Dallas County, IA. She attended country school in the area. Mabel became known as Lucy to her family and friends. She began working at Hiller's Carpet Store in Emmetsburg where she was the bookkeeper for 20 years.
Lucy was married to Larry Phelps and to this union three children were born, Robert, Shirley and Russell.
Lucy was later married to Steven J. Hoben in Emmetsburg. They had a daughter, Judy. Lucy and Steven made their home in Emmetsburg until Steven's death.
After marrying Melbourne Hill, Lucy moved to Eagle Grove where she was employed at Christiansen Motors as office manager. She worked in this position for 20 years before they returned to Emmetsburg.
While living in Eagle Grove, Lucy was very active in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary where she held several offices both locally and at the district level. She was also a member of the Evangelical Church in Eagle Grove.
Lucy and Buck moved to Emmetsburg where they resided until their deaths. Lucy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and had made Emmetsburg Care Center her home for the past nine years.
Lucy passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert K. Phelps; a daughter, Shirley (Simonson) Trollinger; her husbands, Steven J. Hoben and Melbourne Hill; a grandson, Steven Simonson; brothers, Ralph Salisbury, Willard Salisbury and Richard "Dick" Salisbury; and a step-brother, Harry DeWitt.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy K. (Victor) Johnson of Emmetsburg; her son, Russell Phelps of Palmetto, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Michael Phelps, Brian Phelps, Sandy Groh, Bruce Johnson, Cindy Harsha, Billy Simonson and Vickey Simonson; great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Kraus and Esther Nesmoe; nieces and nephews.
