We gather today to celebrate the Homegoing and life of our dearly beloved Shirley Anne Wright. She departed from life on Friday, December 23, 2022 at12:55p.m.
Shirley Anne Trollinger was born to the late Flora Penn Trollinger and James Curtis Trollinger Sr. on January 15, 1949 in Winston Salem, NC. She was educated in the Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools and a graduate of Anderson High School. She was raised in the Smith Street Community where she met the love of her life at age 13, James William Wright. Shirley was married to James for 56 years and they were blessed with seven children (5 boys and 2 girls).
Mrs. Wright was employed at Winston-Salem Healthcare for many years and decided she wanted to further education to become a lab technician and phlebotomist. She received degrees from Forsyth Tech Community College and Winston Salem State University. She enjoyed a successful career in the medical profession at Novant, Ford, Simpson Lively and Rice and retiring from Piedmont Hematology and Oncology.
Shirley devoted her life to caring for others and winning souls to Christ. Her favorite scripture "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen"Hebrews 11:1.
She opened her heart and her home to many friends, relatives, and even strangers. Her home was the meeting place for family gatherings and a place that anyone was welcome especially for Sunday dinner. She was a member of Saint Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years throughout her lifetime. She served beside her husband in ministry at Bible Way Gospel Ministry Inc.,New Testament Church of God in Greensboro, NC and the Righteous Church of God in Lexington, NC. At the time of her passing, she was a member of new Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church until she could no longer attend. Shirley was also a member of the Ministers Wives & Widows of Winston Salem and Vicinity where she held offices as President and financial secretary during her membership. In her leisure time, she enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling with her husband and shopping especially for church at hats.
Mrs. Wright is preceded in death by five children: Aaron Wright, 3 sons and 1 daughter, and her parents James & Flora Trollinger.
Love, gratefulness, and respect feel the hearts of those remaining to cherish and keep her memory alive; her husband of 56 beautiful years Bishop James William Wright Sr., 2 children:James (Shonti Rush) Wright Jr., Iva Wright; 3 grandchildren: T'Nisha (Gerald) Wright-Morrison, James Wright III and I'jasha Wright; 2 Great grandchildren: Jarius Wright and Ila Gadson; 3 siblings: James C Trollinger Jr. of Washington DC, Larry Trollinger of Charlotte NC, and Detricha (Ronald)Smith ;1 brother-in-law Larry (Cynthia) Wright; 2 Sister-in-law: Patsie (John) Stepney and Louise Crowder Wright; 2 Aunts: Lillie Hatcher of Harrisburg, PA and Peggy Armstrong; devoted niece Tamiko Rice Cole and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime friends.
A public viewing will hold Thursday December 29, 2022, from 1pm until 5pm at Douthit's. Funeral services will be held Friday December 30, 2022, at 12pm from New Jerusalem Baptist Church and interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 11:30am at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
