- Mrs. Katie Jean Mulkey Barron Poston of Scottsburg, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the Halifax Regional Hospital.
She was born March 8, 1934, in Bartow County and was 75 years old. She was the daughter of the late Nebraska Eugene Mulkey and the late Katie Mae Trollinger Mulkey and married the late Price Matthew Barron. She was a member of the Cartersville Church of God in Cartersville, Ga.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Barron Lumley of Scottsburg, Va.; one son, Roger Ray Barron of Lawrenceville; three sisters, Maggie Barnett of Cartersville, Gladys Teems of Cartersville, Mildred Palmer of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Barkley Barron, and one brother, Willis Mulkey.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville with the Sister Ruth Thaxton conducting the service.
