- Vera Powell Allen, 87, of Lipan, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008,in Weatherford.
Funeral at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, July 19, 2008) at Lipan FirstBaptist Church. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation wasFriday in Wiley Chapel in Lipan.
The longtime Lipan resident was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Hood County, toHomer Bales and Maddie Jane Armstrong Bales.
She had lived in Lipan since 1939 and was a member of Lipan FirstBaptist Church. She liked to read, garden and visit with herneighbors.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, William Powellin 1971, Odis Allen in 1987; and a son, Charles Powell.
Survivors are a daughter, Patricia Trollinger and husband, David, ofMineral Wells; a granddaughter, a grandson, and threegreat-grandchildren.
Final arrangements were by Wiley Chapel of Lipan.
