  Alexander was a yarn bundler for the linen mills in Belfast. He was active in Masonic Organizations. His passion for reading ensured that his children would pass this on to their offspring. He taught himself how to read and write. Most of his documentation show his mark rather than a signature. Existing photos show him with a full head of white hair. My grandfather William Skelly also had a full head of white until he died. As did my uncle, Gordon Alexander Skelly.
