- PERRYTON - Gale Spencer ROGERS, 84, died Monday, September 12, 2011.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mr. ROGERS was born February 20, 1927, in Perryton. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1944. He attended for one year at Texas A&M University before entering the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Japan with the occupational forces.
Mr. ROGERS graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. While there, he was honored with The Wall Street Journal award for high-ranking student. Upon graduation he returned home to work at Perryton National Bank for 32 years, retiring as vice president.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Perryton. He served as a Sunday school leader and on the board of trustees and the building committee. He clerked the Ochiltree County Junior Livestock sale for 20 years. In later years, Gale served on the board of directors at First Bank Southwest in Perryton.
Mr. ROGERS was an avid horseman, a businessman and rancher. He became a private pilot in later years.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne ROGERS; a son, Jeff ROGERS and wife Linda of Perryton; a daughter, Ann BURANDT and husband Phil of Perryton; a brother, Don ROGERS; a sister, Jane HUDSON; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
