• Notes

  Family tradition says that Samuel was killed in a "war". My grandfather William Skelly used to say Samuel Gordon had his head shot off so he cut off another man's head and ran on! Entry at his daughters wedding registration gives his occupation as a writing clerk. A puzzling entry as it leads one to believe that Samuel was alive at the time of her wedding. Another mystery as there is very little data found on him other than his mariage certificate and his daughter's.
