Departed this life, at his residence in Clay Township, Decatur County on Tuesday evening, the 4th ins., about 8 o'clock, Mr JAMES SWINNEY, aged 52 years, 10 months and 12 days, after a short illness of intermitting fever.
The deceased was one of our best and most estimable citizens, was a memeber of the regular Baptist Church at Hartsville, sustained an unsullied and unimpeachable character for uprightness and integrity; was charitable to the poor and lived an exemplary life. He has left a disconsolate and much affected widow, a large and interesting family of children, and many other near and dear relatives, who mourn and deplore their loss and bereavement. His neighbors and acquaintances, who are numerous, feel that they have sustained an irrearable loss.
