Mom (grandma, gigi, momma Ruby) was two weeks shy of 90 years young. She was born June 15, 1928 in Florence, KS. A long time Vallejo resident of 81 years, she loved the City she came to in 1937. Mom passed away peacefully in her beloved family home of 65 years. She was active in the community throughout her younger life and in retirement enjoyed the Vallejo Senior Center. She was a multi-talented woman having worked as an LVN at Kaiser, a baker for Vallejo Schools and an owner/operator of Thomson's Meat Market for over 25 years; as well as, being a homemaker and raising six children. Mom enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also spent many happy hours with her Senior Center knitting buddies. She was an avid knitter and prided herself in providing countless warm winter scarves for the homeless each year. She won several awards at the County Fair for her knitting prowess. In 1957 she was baptized into the First Baptist Church in Vallejo, where she led youth groups and Sunday School. Mom loved traveling with the family, even in her advanced years.
