- Fred was born in Woodland and grew up in Knights Landing. He attended grammar school in Knights Landing and high school in Woodland. After graduation, he served in the Army from 1967 to 1970, spending six months in Germany and Vietnam.
Fred worked various jobs after the service, including Mobile Chemical and Dutch Miller?s Place, but his pride was working at the Yolo County Sheriff?s Department, retiring as a correctional sergeant in July 2009. In addition to his years of service with the sheriff?s department, Fred was a dedicated member of the Knights Landing Fire Department for 22 years.
Fred had many passions in life and experienced a lifetime of good, bad, wild and crazy moments. Off all the things Fred ever did, the greatest, he said, was giving his life to the Lord.
Fred leaves behind Linda, his wife of 33 years; daughters Tanya Miller of Davis, and Tara Williams (Erik) of Davis; stepsons Danny Roark (Tawny) of Woodland, and David Roark of Davis; grandchildren Enzo, Etienne and Eli Williams of Davis, Chad Holt of Woodland, and E.J Holt of Santa Cruz; great-grandchild JJ of Santa Cruz; sisters Judy Miller (Joe Gallardo) of Salmon, Idaho, and Mary Lou Trolinder (Emmitt) of Napa; best and lifelong friend Norm Green (Elaine) of Woodland; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Knights Landing Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Woodland Christian Center, 441 California St. in Woodland.
