- Carolyn Sue (Shannon) Horton 75 of McAlester died Sunday, December 8, 2024 in Tulsa.
The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Massey Cemetery officiated by Jeff Herzog.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Carolyn was born to Leo and Wilma Nadine (Trollinger) Shannon on August 4, 1949 in Blocker. She graduated from Crowder High School in 1967 and attended Oklahoma State University. She went on the complete beauty school in Memphis, Tennessee.
Carolyn worked as an EKG Technician for McAlester Regional Health Care Center and retired in 2020 after 17 years.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses McAlester Congregation.
Carolyn enjoyed flower gardening and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Shannon; brothers, Terry Shannon, Jerry Dean Shannon; nephew, D.J. Shannon and niece, Kristina Shannon.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Nadine Shannon; son, Michael Cordell and husband, Billy Richmond of Blocker; daughter, Mystie Herzog and husband, Jeff of Orlando, Florida; step-daughter, Jennifer Wimberly and husband, Dale of Ashland; step-son, J.D. Horton of Webbers Falls; ten grandchildren plus Diamond Shannon; sisters, Kay Haws of Blocker, Thea Sylvester and husband, Randy of McAlester; Rick Shannon, Donald Shannon both of Blocker; brothers-in-law, Robert Hodges and Roy Haws; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Carolyn will be missed but not forgotten.
