Notes - Henderson identifies his parents as Thomas Trollinger and Violet per his marriage record with Phoebe. According to his death certificate he was born in 1844, however, it is not clear what the exact relationship was between Henderson and the informant on his death certificate who was supplying the information about him and therefore the reliability of the information is somewhat suspect including his birth date (Note: the informant states Henderson's father as James Trollinger and not Thomas Trollinger) . If it is true that he was born in 1844, then it seems highly unlikely that Thomas was born about 1835 as the 1860 and 1870 Censuses suggest, as he would have only been about nine years old at the time of Henderson's birth. Thomas' birth year is given as about 1827 according to the 1880 Census which, if true, would have made him about 17 years old at the time of Henderson's birth, an age that would be more believable. However, if Thomas really was born about 1835 and if Henderson really was born in 1844 and a mulatto as the 1870 Census states, then it would appear that Henderson's biological father may be someone other than Thomas and possibly a white man.
It appears that Bingham McNeill and Lesy McNeill who are identified as the grandchildren of Henderson Trollinger in the 1910 Census are most likely the grandchildren of Henderson's wife, Phoebe, from her prior marriage to Benjamin McNeill.
