"Uncle Billy" Van Camp, as he was known to an admiring following of children at Farmington, was born September 4, 1855, in Iowa, and moved to Kansas in 1865 with his parents, who located in the Salt Creek community south of Atchison, and near the home of William Cody, the famous "Buffalo Bill."
In 1870 the family moved to Farmington and Mr. Van Camp had made his home there continuously since that time. He had been ill and was moved from Farmington to his sister's home, Mrs. Ed Higley, in Effingham.
His mother, Mrs. W. R. Drollinger, died in Farmington in 1925, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Brink of Atchison died in 1925.
Mr. Van Camp was a bachelor.
