Notes - Ref Jacob's fact sheet that he produced which talks about his mother, Azalia's life. He sent it to me in about 1993 or so along with some Family Group Records that he also created. They are all still in my, David H. Drollinger's possession. The following is my transcription of that document exactly as Jake wrote it:
Azalia Emiline (Roberts) Drollinger
Born near Fort Atkins Wis. 5-4-1865. Died 10-17-1946. Married Martin Henry Drollinger 8-8-1894. Took over the care of four step-children, the youngest of which was only twelve months of age. She was never a stepmother but always a mother to these children. When she was still a young girl the Roberts family moved from Wis. to Belle Plaine Iowa. Here she went through school. Graduating from high school when she was barely sixteen. That year the Roberts family moved by covered wagon to near Kenesaw Nebr. She taught school at the age of sixteen. One of the experiences she had while teaching, a great blizzard came up and when her brother Dewey came to pick her up only the sense of direction of the horses on the buggy took them home as visibility was such they couldn't see further than the horses heads. Many people lost their lives in this storm. After teaching a few years she opened a millinery shop, making and selling woman's hats. Soon after marriage in 1894 the Drollinger family moved to a farm near Hastings Nebr. After her husband passed away in 1910 she kept the family together for many years. She never remarried.[end]
