- Donald A. Schremp of Ste. Genevieve died at home Sunday, October 7, 2012. He was 72 years old.
Visitation is at the Wood Family Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve on Tuesday, October 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. and at Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ste. Genevieve on Wednesday, October 10, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Wood Family Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He was born on January 10, 1940, in St. Louis, a son of Albert F. and Ethel (Metz) Schremp.
He was married to Betty M. (Trollinger) Schremp on January 28, 1961, and she survives in Ste. Genevieve.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janet (Mrs. Alvin) Braun and Donna (Mrs. Paul) Ringwald, and a son, Donald Wayne Schremp and his wife, Pam, all of Ste. Genevieve. He also is survived by seven grandchildren, Jason and Renee Braun; Rachel, Bridgett and Ethan Schremp; and Nathan and Nicole Ringwald; and by one great-grandchild, Emery Leigh Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Schremp attended grade school at the Rigdon School and at River aux Vases before graduating from Ste. Genevieve High School. He held several jobs over time at Mississippi Lime and Bauman Excavating. He likewise owned and operated Schremp Excavating and served as county commissioner from 1987 to 1995. Most of all, he was a lifetime farmer. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and restoring antique Farmall tractors. He was a member of Lost Acres Tractor Club. He also was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and served as elder for many years. He served in the Air National Guard from 1957 to 1963.
