- GREENSBORO - Mrs. Virginia McPherson Huffman, 84, went home to be with Jesus Wednesday morning, June 20, 2007, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Bessemer United Methodist Church with Rev. Anne Elmore and Pastor David Longobardo officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Virginia McPherson Huffman was born in Guilford County, October, 9, 1922, the daughter of the late John Dolphis McPherson and the late Bessie Suggs McPherson. She was a faithful member of Bessemer United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women as well as being a member of Greensboro Chapter 14 of the Eastern Star and Gate City White Shrine of Jerusalem #2. Mrs. Huffman was co-owner of P.T. Huffman Transfer, Inc. for 45 years and co-owner of Electric Fishing Reel Systems, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, P.T. Huffman; a brother, John McPherson, Jr., who was killed during World War II; and two sisters, Helen Mims and Betty Lou Martin.
She is survived by her loving son, Carl Trolinger Huffman and wife, Jill of Summerfield; two brothers, George McPherson and wife, Rose of Greensboro and James McPherson of Wilmington; and a sister, Dorothy Heise of Greensboro; and a beloved granddaughter, Brittany Cintron of Summerfield.
