Hi my distance cuz'n Dave;
What are you doing crawling down one of my rabbit holes? full story to follow.
Thanks for this short bit from a news paper because it confirms what I have been tracing for several weeks trying to prove that George Belden was Celia's Drollinger brother, but first let me backup ...
Several years back, a Belden cousin, grandson of Ira Belden aka Grover Drollinger, ask me to get Celia Drollinger's Texas Certificate of Death to determine where she was born and who her parents were but I just had not had the time to travel to Houston and stand in line to get it. Well, about 6 weeks ago, this data was put on line through Acenstry.com and I came across it. At the time of her death, she was spending her winter with my grandfather in Houston and he did not have or couldn't supply the Harris County Vital Statistics this information on his mother. So I got to digging around and was able to track Celia through her brother back to Elkhart County Indiana in the 1860 census. Her mother, Mary A Belden, appears to be a widow because she is the Head of Household listing both George and Celia in the household. By 1870, Mary A Belden had remarried to a Isaac Frank and had two more children; Charles and Lilly Frank. Some time after the 1870 census and before Jan 1876, the Franks family moved to Roann Indiana where Celia Augusta Belden married Martin Van Buren Drollinger in January of 1876.
All the census records on Mary A Belden Frank, show her son George living with her and his job description is laborer. After his mothers death on Aug 1, 1904 in North Manchester, Wabash County, Indiana, George moved in with his step-sister, Lilly Frank Long, wife of Henry Long. Both George's step-sister and step-brother lived around Hoover Indiana and died there. The records show that Mary A Belden Frank hada total of 9 children and that only George and Celia Belden and Charles and Lilly Frank survived to adulthood. I have acquired all the obits but Lilly Long on the family and it still does not give me insight to what Mary A Belden Frank's maiden name was nor what Belden she was married too. AS to Celia Belden Drollinger, I am not sure where she was born, but the records at Lindenwood Cemetery says that she was born in New Haven, Indiana (small town outside of Ft. Wayne Indiana but an on site search of historical records of the town at the time of Celia's birth, did not even list a Belden being in the town).
What your newspaper clip shows, that Celia Drollinger is visiting her brother and half-sister. It show interact with her siblings which I had not been able to find before. Thanks.
If you come across any more records on her, please forward them and if you find her parent's names, boy that would be great.
I hope this helps,
Ben
