- LADD, Herman Mifflin "Bubba," 80 years young, of Highland Springs, departed this life surrounded by family on Monday, January 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Frances Trollinger Ladd; children, Kennon Lee Ladd, Cynthia Moss (Roland), Patricia Augsburger (Bryan) and Tracey Shook; grandchildren, Holly Fleek (Shawn), Wayne Soifer, Angela Ladd, Amanda Ladd, Christopher Augsburger, Melanie Phillips (fiancĀ?, Landon Milhorn), Corporal Dustin Phillips, USMC, and Megan Phillips; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Beverly), Randolph (Lillie) and Douglas (Jane); sisters, Philis Blackwell (Robert) and Christine Johnson (Tom); special sister-n-law, Eva Ladd; in-laws, Fred Trollinger (Helen), Guy Trollinger (Diane), Kaye Welsh (Chris) and Marcia Sluder; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kennon and Ruth Ladd; brother, Linwood "Sonny" Ladd; and sister, Lillian Richardson (John). Bubba was retired from the U.S. Navy and James River Building Supply, a member of Sandston Moose Family Center 1937, American Legion Battlefield Post 144. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 27, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., with a Moose Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, January 28. Interment will be at Washington Memorial Park.
