- Robert "Bob" Earl Trullender Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Del Rio, TX on December 3rd, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 15th, 1944, to Robert "Bob T" and Blanche "Evon" Trullender. After graduating from Muncie Central High School in 1962, he voluntarily enlisted in the US Air Force to serve his country. He would go on to serve over 20 years and earn the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). During his military career, he served in Vietnam, Turkey, Panama, North Carolina, North Dakota, and California. His many decorations included the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He retired in 1984.
While on active duty in 1969, Bob welcomed his daughter, Maija DeAnn Trullender, with his first wife, Mary.
Bob ultimately settled in Del Rio, Texas, and began a second career as a civil servant at Laughlin Air Force Base. He served his country an additional 20 years as a supervisor for aircraft maintenance, retiring again in 2004. At Laughlin, he earned the nickname of "Bad Weather Bob" for making the flight line return all aircraft to the hangars when the forecast looked bad. His nickname was shortened to "Bad Bob" for his quick wit, often at the expense of others. He was both loved and hated by countless colleagues.
While living in Del Rio, he met Ms. Irma Tapia Cervantes. They married in December 1992, when he gained three children in Sergio "Charlie", Brenda, and Ervin Martinez. In 1994, Bob and Irma welcomed their daughter, Blanch Valere "BV" Trullender.
Bob was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Donovan Dykstra. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Trullender, wife, sons, daughters, and grandchildren (Jennifer, Logan, Noah, Camila, Carina, and Charlotte). He also left behind his canine best friend, Cajun Queen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9th, 2022, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a chapel service at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
