- H. Fred Howard Jr, 87, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Bellevue with Robert Slayton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Vashti Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 til? 4 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2013, at the White Family Funeral Home.
Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Fred was born on May 5, 1926 to Horace Sr. and Effie Howard in Skene, Mississippi.
He served his country in the United States Army for five years and the United States Air Force for twenty years. While serving during World War II, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. Fred and his late wife, Jo Nell, owned and operated Transport Refrigeration Company in Wichita Falls, Texas for many years. In 1970, Fred moved his family to Vashti where he was able to fulfill his dreams of farming and ranching.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace Sr. and Effie Howard; loving wife, Jo Nell Howard; and sister, Shirley Molina.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Joni Drullinger and husband, Ronnie of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, Rusty Benham and wife, Billie of Vashti, Adam Benham and wife, Rachelle of Wichita Falls, Jessica Edwards and husband, Ryan of Wichita Falls, and Michelle Ruddy of Wichita Falls; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Taylor and Mary Ann Castellane of Mississippi; brother, James Robert Howard of Mississippi.
Visitation is Sunday, December 22, 2013.
