- Mr. Rufus Sherman "Nab" Alston, 64, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Duke Regional Hospital with his devoted mother and his daughter by his side.
He was the son of Nonie Alston Trollinger.
Sherman attended Jordan Sellars High School and later obtained his GED, and certificates in culinary and welding.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother and his "best girl," Mary Bannerman.
Survivors include his mother, Nonie Alston Trollinger; daughter, Naketia Harvey of Burlington; grandson, Jaquann Harvey; granddaughter, Chelsea Caldwell, both Burlington; two sisters, Shelia Alston of Durham, and Trudy Alston of New York, NY.
Public viewing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16th, at 2 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with the family arriving at 1:30 p.m.
