- Olen James "Jim" Webb, 84, of Defiance, left this life peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
He was born on August 1, 1928 to Forrest and Laurena (Lipp) Webb in Defiance County. On January 27, 1973 he married Edith (Meissner) Webb and she passed away on September 13, 1989. On November 28, 1997 Jim married Helen (Walls) Webb and she survives.
Olen was a member of the class of 1946 from Defiance High School. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He and his brother John were co-owners of Webb Brothers Trucking & Excavating where Jim operated a bulldozer for 50 years. He was a hard working, happy-go-lucky man who enjoyed farming and being outdoors. Jim was a kind and generous person and will be remembered for digging many area ponds and operating the landfill with his brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Helen, four step-sons, Joseph Keber, David (Kimberly) Keber, Douglas (Kristin) Keber all of Defiance, John (Billie) Keber of Marysville, three step-daughters, Sandra (Dale) Wynkoop of Troy, Carolyn (Felix) Rosario of Upper Sandusky, Susan (Philip) Spieth of Liberty Center, step-grandchildren, Lydia, Reid, Leslie & Dana Wynkoop, Tiffany Towns, Erika, Breanna & Alexander Rosario, Megan, Jimmy & Adam Spieth, Katherine & Kevin Keber, Madison Hostettler, Lillianna, Delaney &, Amelia Keber, Claire & Ella Keber. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy (Ned) Dunbar of Defiance.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, John & Roger Webb, sister, Evelyn Haines and a step-granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Towns.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 05, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Private family burial will be in Webb Cemetery.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
