OWEN Bennie Fred, 74, of Oklahoma City, died April 8, 1995 after a short illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1920 in Mustang, Ok to John Edward and Bertha Switzer Owen. Bennie served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II and was assigned to a destroyer escort, the U.S.S. Harveson. He was a true patriot and believed in law and order.
After serving his country, he entered into the trucking industry until his retirement years.
Survived by 4 sons: Lt. Bennie P. Owen, Okla. County Sheriff's Office and his wife, Lynda Faye, Lt. Wayne F. Owen, OKC Police Dept. and his wife, Darlene, Major David W. Owen, OKC Fire Dept. and his wife, Carolyn, and Mr. Leslie Dale Owen; grandsons, Officer Paul Owen, OKC Co. Sheriff's Office and his wife, Carrie, Sgt. David W. Owen, OK Co. Sheriff's Office and his wife, Leslie, Officer Kevin Wayne Owen, OKC Police Dept. and his wife, Ila Jean, and Joshua and Matthew Owen of OKC; granddaughters, Officer Terri Lynn Owen Streeter, Okla. Co. Sheriff's Office and her husband, Keith, Darla Doty and her husband, Capt. Dennis Doty, USAF, Miss Amy D. Owen; 11 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Rebecca.
Services: Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment in Sunny Lane Cemetery.
