- Information on Clara A. Neil's dates is conflicting. Information from Johnson County Historical Society (Warrensburg, Missouri) indicates birth was about 11 Dec 1851 and death was 7 Aug 1893. She is buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, which is 5 miles west and 1 mile south of Lincoln, Benton County, Missouri. We visited the graveyard on 14 July 2001. The grave marker indicates birth was on 28 June 1851 and death occurred 6 Aug 1893.
In the summer of 2001, I obtained data from a Mrs. John Neil. She said she had parts of the Neil family Bible that indicate Clara was born 28 June 1851 and died 6 August 1893.
The information goes on to state that John Neil, Charles Davis (grandfather?) and another man started the Sunnyside Church. One gave land. John was superintendent till he died at age 87. Another founder was J. F. Fleming.
Clara's obituary notice reads:
"Just a week after her father's burial, at two o'clock p.m., August 6, 1893, Clara A., wife of G. Anderson Miller, quietly passed from earth to heaven. Born in Western Pennsylvania, Jun 28, 1851, she came with her father, John Neil to Missouri in 1867.
""At the age of 18, she accepted Christ as her savior and united with the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church of which she was a member until her death took her from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant. She was married in 1887 and leaves a bereaved husband and four children to mourn her loss. Her eldest son died several years ago and the eldest daughter, Amy, a young girl of 13 years and six months and nine days old was scarcely parted from the mother's embrace, dying within twelve hours and buried by her mother's side.
"Those unexpected sudden deaths left one empty home and bleeding hearts but we feel sure they are safe in the arms of Jesus and not lost but gone before.
