Mr. Volts was born in Chester, Neb, the son of Benjamin F. and Nora E. Volts. He worked for the Van Camp Hardware Co. for about 35 years and was a member of Effingham American Legion Post 120; VFW Post 1769; the Last Man's Club; Effingham Elks Lodge; 40 et 8; and was a World War 1 veteran. He married Margaret Humes in 1922. She died in 1970. Surviving are a daughter, Gwendolyn E. Merry of Effingham; sisters, Mildred Allen, Virginia Kelley, Claire Rose, all of Portland, Ore; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
