The following death notice which appeared in last week's Decatur Republican is reprinted here because of the interest it contains for many Hartford residents who were friends of the late Mrs. Charles H.. Zimmerman who died Wednesday, February 4:
Mrs. Charles H. Zimmerman, 64, died Wednesday afternoon at her home in Dowagiac, following several months illness.
She was born in Hartford township, the daughter of Robert Preston and Lydia Conklin Rose on Dec. 16. 1877. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Zimmerman on Nov. 26, 1896, who survives her.
Following their marriage, they lived on a farm in Hamilton township until 1924 when they moved to St. Joseph. In 1928 they came to Dowagiac which has been their home ever since.
Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Beldon Say and a granddaughter, Barbara Say of Dowagiac. She also leaves a brother, Seymour Rose of Hamilton and two half-brothers, Lyle Rose of Ohio; Glen Rose of Pontiac; another, half-brother, Don Rose, dying a year ago. She also leaves a step-brother, Carl Pinckney of Kalamazoo and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zimmerman belonged to a number of clubs and made a great many friends during her residence in Dowagiac.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the McLauchlin funeral home with Rev. Frank Flagg officiating. Interment was in the Keeler cemetery.
The flowers were many and beautiful. Old friends of Corwin and Lawrence gave a piece on a standard and several from Corwin attended the service, and Mr. Flagg's sermon was sincere and comforting.
