Funeral services will be held at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon at thefamily residence for Andrew Henry Jordan, aged 67 years who diedsuddenly at 5:30 o'clock Sunday morning at his home on WashingtonAvenue from acute indigestion.
Mr. Jordan, prominent Pulaskian and a leading business man, had notbeen in ill health and his death profoundly shocked his family andlarge circle of friends.
He remained in his drug store until 10 o'clock Saturday night and hadnot complained up to that time of not feeling well. He was takenviolently ill about an hour before he died and the end came swiftly.
The services at the home will be in charge of Rev. D. P. Hurley,pastor of the Methodist church assisted by James T. Trolinger. Mr.Jordan was a Methodist, an Elk, a Mason and a Shriner.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
The pall bearers will be Cadall Harmon, M. A. Shuff, Jr., RaymondMoyers, O. P. Jordan, Jr., W. H. Wysor, David Laughon, James Bosangand Pierce Whitman.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his widow, a son Henry D. Jordan by hisfirst marriage, and two children by his second marriage: Mrs. F. R.Wilson of Woodbury, N. J. and Miss Margaret Jordan of this city. He isalso survived by a sister, Mrs. R. H. Woolling and a brother, O. P.Jordan both of this city. His first wife was Miss Ella Darst ofDublin. Following her death, he married in 1895 Miss Jennie Whitman ofWilmore, Ky.
Mr. Jordan was born near Kingsport, Tenn., and had lived in Pulaskisince 1890 when he established his drug business. At the time of hisdeath, he was proprietor of the A. H. Jordan & Co. drug store onCommerce street. He had lived in Pulaski county for 50 years.
Among the relatives who will be here for the funeral are: Mrs. H. S.McLean, a sister-in-law of Wilmore, Ky., Mrs. Southgate Taylor, asister-in-law of Norfolk, Va., a niece, Miss Helen Jordan ofBluefield, W.Va. and Mrs. G. B. Irvine and Miss Virginia Haller ofPocahontas and all the children. It is expected, due to Mr. Jordan'sgreat popularity, that the service will be largely attended.
