- Dr. Theodore Scott (Ted) Perry passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Copper Rock Village, Rogersville, Missouri, at the age of 91.
He was born August 27, 1931, in Marionville, Missouri, to Howard Lee Perry and Mary Jane (Clarkson) Perry.
On December 28th, 1950, he married Dorothy Nell Trolinger. They had three daughters, Jean Ann, Rita Sue, and Amy Noel. Dorothy passed away in November 2007.
Ted graduated from Marionville High School, Southwest Missouri State College, (now Missouri State University), and Midwestern Theological Seminary, and then pastored several Southern Baptist Churches in Southwest Missouri, from 1950 to 1971. In 1964, along with other pastors from the United States, he participated in a 6-week crusade in Australia and New Zealand, staying in local church members? homes.
He concluded his formal ministry service when he and his wife Marcella traveled to Tanzania, Africa twice, where they held evangelistic crusades, preaching and teaching local pastors.
Ted served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He suffered a severe injury in Korea, receiving the Purple Heart, and then was shipped back to the States after spending some time in a Japanese hospital.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Wilma, his brothers Gene, Bob, Oliver, and Ray.
He is survived by his wife Marcella Perry, his three daughters, Jean Dalton and husband Larry, Conway, SC., Rita Dillard, Springfield, MO, and Amy Arnold and husband Mike, Springfield, MO. Also surviving are five grandsons, Greg Dalton and wife Kimberly Wood, Scott Dalton and wife Becky, Tim Kersey and wife Kasey, Major Jacob Arnold, MD and wife Christine, and Matthew Arnold, eight great grandchildren with another on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, Mo., 65804, on Friday, December 9 at 11:00 AM.
