- Delilah Ashmore Shaw
Delilah, age 91, passed away on the 21st day of November, 2022 at the home of a close friend in Shipman, Virginia. She was born in Sopchoppy, Florida on September 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Louise and Robert Ashmore.
She was married to her devoted husband, John H. Shaw for over 50 years, now deceased.
She is survived by her four children, Robert Shaw, Jode Shaw, Kimberly Shaw, and John R. Shaw; six grandchildren, Anne Carter, Lindsey Shaw, Cardon Shaw, Bob Shaw, Monica Shaw, and Spencer Shaw; one great grandchild, Kierra Smith, and significant spouses and others, Evelyn Shaw, Carolyn Becker, Jerald Carter, Wendy and Rachel Wolf.
Delilah was a true Florida native. She was born in Sopchoppy, raised in Tallahassee graduating from Leon High School and attended both Florida State University and University of Florida earning her B.S. Degree and participating as a proud member of the Leon High School Marching Band, Florida State University Tarpon Club, Synchronized Swim Team, and a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority.
After her graduation, Delilah married John Shaw, Captain USN Retired, and traveled the world with her husband and family, retiring together first in Miami, Florida where she was a Realtor and Broker and a member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church and again in Jacksonville. Life was always travel and adventure to Delilah.
In addition to Florida, Delilah loved and maintained family property in Georgia owned from the first land grant which she named Carter Hill Plantation.
Funeral services will be held at the Old Home Place family cemetery at Carter Hill Plantation 496 West Lake East Road, Jeffersonville, GA 31044 on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may sign her virtual guestbook at www.WellsSheffield.com
