- Geraldine "Gerrie" (Hutyra) Barton, age 66, of DeSoto, formerly of West, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her residence.
A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Gerrie was born February 23, 1948 in West, the daughter of Jerry Hutyra and Louise Brinkmann. She attended Aquilla Schools and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Aquilla High School. On August 31, 1968 she was united in marriage to Raymond W. Barton in Abbott. Gerrie was a purchasing and sales representative for Storage Equipment Company in Dallas for 17 years. She also worked for Target in Cedar Hill, Dollar General in DeSoto and N. J. Malin Company in Dallas. Gerrie enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, painting, drawing and animals. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and being an excellent cook.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond W. Barton of DeSoto; her mother, Louise Ondrej of West; a daughter, Karen Hoeller and husband Paul of Arlington; a son, Raymond E. Barton and wife Lisa of The Colony; a brother, John Ondrej and wife Cathy; sisters, Doris Rauch and husband Ron, Martha "Marty" Kreid and husband Bob, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hartnett and husband Jackie, and Mary "Barbie" Smith and husband Ernie; grandchildren, Emily Barton, Jacob Hoeller, Kathryn Hoeller and Mary Hoeller; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Chris Trolinger, Tim Trolinger, Jeffrey Allen, Jerry Allen, Donald Allen and Paul Hoeller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brittany Rescue of Texas, 6616 Trail Lake Dr. Ft. Worth, TX 76133.
