Mrs. Lessie Dawson Williford, age 99, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013at Guilford Health Care Center, Greensboro, NC.
Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late ThaddeusDawson and Hattie Tew Dawson Edwards. She was predeceased by herhusband, Alton G. Williford; three brothers William E. Dawson, IrvingT. Dawson, and Doyle R. Dawson, and one sister, Loretha D. Smith. Sheretired from Belk Department Store.
A longtime member of Christ Wesleyan Church, she was active for manyyears in the children's department, the Children's Church Department,and an active member in the Blanch Hall Missionary Circle. Also, shewas a teacher for Child Evangelism for many years.
Mrs. Williford is survived by her daughters, Dolores W. Blake (Ray)and Janice W. Trollinger (J.C.) both of Greensboro; sevengrandchildren Cynthia L Crawford and J. Richard Renshaw (Anna) ofGreensboro; J.Glenn Blake (Judy) of Burlington, NC; Donna B. Williams(David) of Plymouth, MA; Steven S. Blake (Tia) oDurham, NC; Michael L.Renshaw (Angie) of Jamestown, NC, and Patricia T. Chilco (David) ofLiberty, NC. Fifteen great-grandchildren Brandy Crawford, QuentinCrawford and Daniel Renshaw all of Greensboro; Jonathan Blake ofBrooklyn, NY; Justin Blake of Durham, NC; Scott A. Williams (Ashley)and Kelly K.Williams of Plymouth, MA; Christopher Renshaw (Ashley) ofNevada, MD; Caleb Renshaw, Noah Renshaw and Gracie Renshaw all ofJamestown, NC: Brian Faucette (Mary) of Graham, NC; Andrew Chilco ofWilmington, NC; Jakob Chilco and Matthew Chilco of Liberty, NC; andseven great-great-grandchildren Nathan Crawford, Jayden Gowens, MylesGowens, Willow Crawford, Berkley Faucette , Linen Faucettef and CholeStehman. Additionally, she is survived by one brother Virgil P. Dawsonof Greensboro and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Forbis & Dick Funeral North Elm StreetChapel, Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 19,2013 at Guilford Memorial Park with the Rev .Jonathan Lewis and Dr.Keith Carroll officiating.
