    • A native of Alamance County, Mr. Moore was the husband of Ann Cates Moore, who survives, and the son of the late Lawrence Walter Moore and the late Metta Trollinger Moore.
      Mr. Moore was a graduate of Burlington High School and attended Elon College. During World War II, Mr. Moore served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres. He was the holder of a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars, having served in seven battles and campaigns in southern France, Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, Central Europe and Air Offensive Europe. He is a member of the Second Air Division Association.
      For many years he was an active member of Front Street United Methodist Church, having served on various committees and was the author of THE HISTORY OF FRONT STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 1888-1984. He was a former member of the Exchange Club, Kiwanis Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Walter B. Ellis Post of the American Legion, the Loyal Order of the Moose and a charter member of the Order of DeMolays in Alamance County. He served on the Burlington Cemetery Commission for three consecutive terms. He served on the board of directors of Share A Home and was a trustee of the Alamance County Historical Museum since 1981 and served as President from 1996 to 1997.
      Mr. Moore was a charter member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Battle of Alamance Chapter. He was honored with the Meritorious Service Award in 1992 for forming the first state Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard, the Silver Good Citizenship Medal, the George Washington Fellow in 1995, the Centennial Medal in 1999 and the Sons of the American Revolution World War II Medal. He was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Medal of Honor in 1996.
      Mr. Moore is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann Cates Moore, of the home, and beloved daughter, Andrea Moore Liverman, and her husband, Gerry, of Wake Forest, NC.
      In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Samuel Moore, and brother, Lawrence Trollinger Moore.
