Ed was born May 4, 1921 in Stockton to Edward E. and Mary Fay Sr. He passed away peacefully on June 18, 2013 at O'Connor Woods in Stockton with his family by his side.
He was a lifelong resident of Stockton having graduated from Stockton High School and College of the Pacific. After graduation, he served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during World War II. Upon his return, he joined his father in operating Dawson Mayflower Moving and Storage.
In later years he worked for the Delta Blood Bank. During all his working life, his real passion was farming and ranching in Linden, CA for over 40 years.
Ed loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. Ed also enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the United States, especially Alaska, and Europe.
Ed is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan, and their three sons, Tom (Jo), John (Robyn), and Bob (Kathy). He and Joan have 9 grandchildren and l6 great grandchildren. It was always special when all the family was together for any occasion.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of O'Connor Woods for their love and attention they showed Ed during the past nine years. Also to the staff at Stockton Cardiology for care they gave him.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 2:00 in the Chapel at O'Connor Woods located on Wagner Heights Road in Stockton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to O'Connor Woods Residence Assistance Program, 3400 Wagner Heights Rd., Stockton, CA 95209 or The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 316 N. El Dorado Street, Stockton, CA 95202 or charity of choice.
