GAS CITY - James W. Myers, 90, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday at Marion General Hospital.
He was born in Gas City to the late Elijah C. and Anna Belle (Fogle) Myers. He married Ruth Mills, and she preceded him in death.
James was a World War II Army veteran. He retired from Essex Wire and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching IU,Indianapolis Colts football and Chicago Cubs baseball. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Richard L. (Janet) Myers, Gas City,James D. (Judy) Myers, Gas City, Jerry L. (Peg) Myers, Gas City, JohnA. (Dana) Myers, Van Buren, Madeline R. (David) Boruff, Gas City, and Anna M. "Pug" Stone, Gas City; brothers-in-law, Ted (Sandee) Mills and Tom (Dotzie) Mills; sister-in-law, Mariam Benbow, Toby (Jim) Younts and Violet Croucher; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;and many great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Myers; grandson, Jo Lakin;two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, atNeedham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, with Pastor Todd Graham officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
