Notes - WATAUGA - Joe N. Gilreath, 73, a retired Air Force captain and glider pilot, died Friday at a Bedford hospice center.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family w;ill receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas Chapel on North Sylvania Avenue.
Memorials: St. Michael's Episcopal Church or a favorite charity.
Mr. Gilreath was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Burleson.
He received combat medals for airborne missions carrying combat troops in Normandy, Holland and the Rhineland.
After the war, he served in occupied Japan and later at Carswell Air Force Base.
He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
He was a life member of the Retired Officers Association, a member of National Glider Pilots Association and an amateur radio operator.
Survivors: Wife, Ruby Bunn Gilreath of Watauga; two daughters, Suzann Eggenberger of Burleson and Carol Jo McMahan of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren, David Eggenberger of Denver and Joe Eggenberger and Sean McMahan, both of Fort Worth.
