- Former Mayor Victor Eugene "Vic" Euliss, 73, of Graham, NC, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Newport News, VA, he is the son of the late Henderson "HC" and Irene Trollinger Euliss.
He was the retired founder and President of Tar Heel Dental Studio which was founded in 1964, always operating in the city of Graham. He was also a retired President of the NC Dental Lab Association.
Vic attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill before graduating from Durham Tech with a degree in Dental Technology and was able to take special courses in the Ney Laboratory at Harvard. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and was an avid private pilot for 39 plus years.
Vic collected and restored classic British sports cars, and was a valued member of the Triumph Club of the Carolinas, NC MG Car Club, and the British Motor Club of the Cape Fear. His favorite place to race was at the Virginia International Raceway.
Vic dedicated and volunteered a lot of his time to the community as he was a proud retiree of the Graham Fire Department serving as a volunteer for over 35 years and was known as the "Permanent Hydrant Orderly".
A loyal member of the Thomas M. Holt Lodge #492 AF & AM in Graham and a Shriner of the Amran Temple. He obtained and restored Cary's First Fire Truck to use as a Shriner in the Fire Brigade for parades as he loved to see the kid's smiles to ride on the firetruck. He was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was an active part of the Graham Rotary Club.
He felt lucky to have been able to serve on the state of NC Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and he was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was elected to serve the City of Graham which he loved and cherished so dearly, serving on the Graham City Council for sixteen years and holding the office of Mayor for ten of those sixteen years.
Vic was the announcer for many years for Graham High School football team and was a part of the 1999 state runner up and the 2000 state championship teams as some may remember hearing his voice rumble through Greenway Park and spilling into downtown when the Red Devil's scored a touchdown.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judy Ray Euliss, of the home; daughters, Natasha Euliss-Uftring and husband John, of Hillsborough and Nadia Euliss Pickens and husband Brad, of Graham; his grandson and the light of his eye, Ryker Eugene Pickens, of Graham; brother, Jerry Stoneking and wide Dora, of FL;sister in laws, Glenda R. Riggs, of Mebane and Emma R. Weatherford and husband Alvis, of Graham; nieces, Renee Riggs, Brandy Weatherford and Shaylin Diana; his loving dachshund and shadow, Bo and many loving cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother in law, James Roland "Buck" Riggs Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Darryl Peebles officiating.
The Thomas M. Holt Lodge #492 AF & AM will hold Emergent Communication at 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the Lodge. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Thomas M. Holt Lodge #492 AF & AM, the Graham Fire Department, and the past and present members of the Graham City Council.
