- Albert "Jay" Hutte, 84, Gas City, died in his home on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born in Wood River, Illinois, on August 23, 1932, to Albert and Geneva (Topliff) Hutte, and he moved to Gas City when he was two years old. He married Linda Corey on July 11, 1968, and she survives.
Jay worked at Foster-Forbes Glass Factory for 35 years. He had many apartments and houses in Gas City and was always busy working and remodeling them. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, and sitting in his favorite swing at home.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Jay is survived by two sons, Ed and Greg; three daughters, Jamie, Genny, and Melinda; grandchildren, James, Autumn, Corey, Amy, Shane, Bob, and Arron; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter and Ernie; and sister, Bertha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, David, Jerry, Benny, and Sammy; and two sisters, Babe and Rosemary.
Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, Gas City is handling the arrangements. A graveside service will take place on Thursday at Grant Memorial Park with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
