- Darrell Summers, age 73, passed away Sunday morning, July 1, 2012, at his home in the Lake Ridge Bay development near Warsaw, Missouri. He was born in Racket, Missouri, on July 31, 1938, the son of Jesse and Gladys Trolinger Summers.
He grew up in the metropolitan Kansas City area and graduated from Southeast High School in the Class of 1956. He worked for Bendix and Western Electric and he then enlisted in the United States Air Force.
On November 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Wheatley. Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City. In 1967, they moved to the Southern California area where was a sales representative for Pool Sweep, a company which was owned by Howard Arneson, his brother-in-law. He built pools for several years after that and then joined the FMC Corporation, first as a draftsman and then as a sales representative for the Houston Division. In pursuit of his career they began moving to numerous locations throughout the United States - including Bakersfield, California, Tomball, Texas and Denver, Colorado.
Following his retirement in 2003 they came to their lake home in the Golden Shores Development and finally the Lake Ridge Bay development near Warsaw, Missouri. He was active in the home owners association and enjoyed the many hours of fellowship with his neighbors and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by one son, Brett Summers, on August 06, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home, two brothers; Lonnie Summers, of Raytown, Missouri, and Don Summers, of Lee's Summit, Missouri; three sisters, Helen Church, of Lee's Summit, Evelyn Pruessner, of Kansas City, and Eva Armeson, of San Rafael, California; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 2:30 P.M. at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri. Cremation .
