      Died: Friday, March 25, 2011
      John Samuel Drollinger, son of the late Bert and Mary Walton Drollinger, died Friday, March 25, 2011, of congestive heart failure. He was a minister of the Christian church, Disciples of Christ, retiring after 50 years of service.
      He was a graduate of the Butler School of Religion, Butler University in Indianapolis. Graduating in 1940, he served numerous Southern Indiana churches before becoming the first full-time chaplain at the Indiana Boys' School in Plainfield and serving there for 12 years. He was chaplain of the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin and did interim ministerial work for the state of Indiana. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Conflict. He was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 146, F&AM in Seymour, the Royal Arch Masons No. 136 in Indianapolis, the Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council, Royal and Select Masters of the State of Indiana, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine, serving as chaplain under six Murat Shrine Pretentortis, the Knights Templar, Gatling Gun Club and Royal Order of Jesters, all of Indianapolis. He was also regional chaplain at the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree at Irvine Ranch, Calif., the first president and charter member of Plainfield Exchange Club, American Legion, Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Farmers Organization and the Indiana State Highway Department.
      Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Betty Roberson; a sister, Martha Christy of Fort Wayne; a son, Larry Bruce of Seabrook, Texas; two daughters, Sherry Layne Castetter of Jeffersonville and Terry Lana of Hollywood, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
      A memorial graveside service for family and other relatives is planned at Bonebrake Cemetery in Fountain County near Veedersburg.
