- Edna Lee Hoobler, 90, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away January 11, 2011 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.
Edna Lee was born September 27, 1920 in Mouser, Oklahoma on the Mouser Homestead, the daughter of Alfred Clinton and Alice Ann Trolinder Mouser. She attended Optima Schools until the eighth grade then started in Hooker graduating with the Class of 1938.
Edna Lee met Arden Hoobler at a town softball game that he pitched. They were united in marriage on December 24, 1938 in Hooker, Oklahoma.
Edna Lee and Arden made their home on the family homestead where they farmed and ranch. In 2008 the Hoobler family Homestead was recognized as an Oklahoma Centennial Farm by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. They named their farm "Poverty Hill" where visitors and rain were always welcome.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church where she served on the Board. Edna Lee and Arden enjoyed traveling. They visited Europe, Panama, South America, Hawaii and many other points of interest. Their favorite past time was attending grandchildren and great grandchildren's many ballgames.
She was very active in civic affairs, the Cow Belles, Mother's Club, Pitch Club, Builders and Doers. She worked and judged at the Texas County Fair and was State President of the Oklahoma Home Extension where she made many organizational trips including the National Convention.
Edna Lee loved cooking for her family including her Bubble Bread, she crocheted afghans and enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arden in 2009, her parents, her son Rodney, four brothers, Alfred, Leroy, Ralph and Loren; five sisters, Ozella, Pauline, Alma, Clara, and Erlene.
Survivors include her son, Kenny and his wife Loretta of Hooker, Oklahoma; daughter, Ardena Davis and her husband Merle of Perryton, Texas; daughter-in-law, Janice Robertson of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Arthena Witt and her husband Walt of Flagler, Colorado; six grandchildren and their spouses, Troy Hoobler, Karla and Todd Huxman, Randy and Tonya Hoobler, Rhonda Fulgham, Shawn and Kara Davis, Darrin and Jaci Davis; thirteen great grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Huxman, Nick Huxman, Cody Huxman, Leandra Hoobler, Ashley Hoobler, Ty Hoobler, Taylor Hoobler, Tucker Hoobler, Tanner Allen, Jordan Davis, Ryan Davis, Jade Davis, and Jaxon Davis; and one great great grandson, Payne Huxman; and her sister, Faye Wells of Hooker, Oklahoma.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Rev. Roy Berkley officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Hooker, Oklahoma.
