- Norma "Mammie" Brown, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2017 surrounded by her beloved children. She was born on October 14, 1926 in Vernon, TX to Nettie Wilson and I.O. Shields. Her early years were spent in West Texas. "Mammie" married the love of her life, "Pappy" Brown, while living in Gallup, NM. They lived in Las Vegas, NV for many years before retiring to Parowan, UT to enjoy life together on their farm. Mammie loved life and found great joy in sharing her love of Jesus with everyone. She was a dearly loved member of Grace Christian Church. Mammie blessed the lives of everyone she knew. She enjoyed making the absolute best pecan pies, chocolate mayonnaise cake, rainbow buttermilk pancakes, and getting her grandkids hooked on coffee at an early age by giving them "coffee-milk". She spent countless hours playing board games and dominoes with dear friends and family. If you haven't guessed it by now, her favorite thing in the world was to show her love by encouraging others and building lifelong relationships. She immediately loved and accepted everyone she met and was dearly loved by and will be missed by all in return.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Clarence "Pappy" Brown, great-grandson Brandon, and great-granddaughter Angelina.
She is survived by her children: Jack and Janice Bradley, Sandra and John Laswell, and Larry and Sharon Bradley as well as 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous "adopted" kids and grandkids.
Mammie's family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the truly loving and excellent care provided to Mammie by the
wonderfully compassionate staff of Bella Terra and Zion's Way Hospice.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday April 1, 2017 at Grace Christian Church in Parowan, UT. Interment will be at the Parowan City Cemetery.
