- INDIANA NATIVE KILLED DURING VIET NAM AMBUSH
Peru, Ind.: A former Indian soldier was killed in an ambush while escorting a minister in South Viet Nam, the Defense Department has reported.
M. Sgt. Hugh M Robbins, 45, formerly of Peru, died June 1,. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Elbert M Robbins, Rt. 1, Denver.
The Miami County native had been in the army since 1942 and served in WW II and the Korean War. He was sent to Viet Nam last February after being trained at language schools in Virginia and California.
His widow, Mrs. Alta Robbins, lives in Lawton, Okla.
