- Sergeant Edward W. Hill, DSN 0935, received his commission and entered the academy on 05/16/1955. During his career he served in the 9Th, and the Police Academy. While he was assigned to the academy he was promoted to the command rank of Sergeant on 12/20/1964 and was subsequently transferred to the 3Rd, 8Th, 7Th, and the 6Th. On 02/01/1963 he was awarded a Chief's Letter of Commendation and a Award of Excellence on 03/01/1969 for police work above the call of duty. When Sergeant Hill retired from the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department on 06/22/1980 he had served a total of 25.01 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Police Department. Sergeant Hill was a veteran of the United States Army and served from September of 1949 to October of 1954 during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Private 1St Class.
Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Beloved father and grandfather. Mr. Hill retired from the St. Louis Police Department, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Tuesday, October 9, 8 a.m. until funeral service at 9 a.m. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Backstoppers are appreciated.
Son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Clarence E. and Lucille G. (nee Loomis) Hill.
