Lynn Everett Byers, 56, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Monday,September 18, 2000 at Fejevary Health Care Center.
Lynn was born October 1, 1943 in Hartley, Iowa. He was the son ofWilliam Clare and Mary E. (Huston) Byers. He married Mary Kathryn(Kathy) McCreary on June 2, 1963 in Ames, Iowa.
He served in the Iowa National Guard and in the Army Reserves. Hefarmed near Hartley and then worked for Archer Oil as a district salesmanager in South Dakota. He then worked for Felco/Land O Lakes inJessup, Iowa and at the Eldridge Coop. He owned and operated D & LHeating and Air Conditioning in Eldridge for 20 years.
Lynn was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Davenport.He had been a charter member of the United Methodist Church inEldridge where he served on the first building committee.
His past memberships include: Iowa Heating and Cooling Assoc.,Eldridge Businessmen's Assoc. and Eldridge Jaycees; he served on theEldridge City Council from 1975-1979.
He loved to fix anything, rebuild cars, fish, camp and hunt. He had amulti-engine commercial pilot's license and loved flying. He alwaysenjoyed spending time with family and friends. His goal in life was tobe of use to God and to others.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs. Lavell (Megan Louise) Washof Davenport and Mrs. Theo (Kay Marie) Caddell of Pontiac, Michigan;grandchildren: Aleksis Kaytlyn Byers, Demetrius Mykel Caddell, NolanEverett Caddell, all of Pontiac, Michigan; stepgrandchildren: LavellEarl Wash, Jr. of Davenport, Larell A. Wash of Rock Island, Illinoisand Taylor Erin Jefford of Moline, Illinois; his mother Mary E. HustonByers of Hartley; and a sister Mrs. Ronald (Cherie Ann) Sterk ofHartley.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2000 at St. John'sUnited Methodist Church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial ParkCemetery. Memorials can be made to the church or to the Scott CountyLibrary.
