He was born on June 7, 1934, in Idaho Falls to Cecil John Drollinger and Norma Delone Harris Drollinger. He grew up in the Osgood area, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School, where he played football. On August 27, 1953, he married Verna Marie Goodson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She passed away in 1969. On March 12, 1970, he married Shirley Ann Brown in Elko, Nevada. He worked as a farmer and a rancher, a car salesman, and a truck driver. He enjoyed farming and raising lilies.
